Snapchat's geofilters have been all the rave since launching. Brands are utilizing snapchat users obsession with these filters to create brand awareness. This new trend and technology give brands and musicians the ability to create branded filters with overlays, music, dancing emojis and much more. These filters are not available forever which creates a sense of urgency among users. Who doesn't want a chance to take selfies as a fierce cheetah or cute animal?

Snapchat has even allowed for their everyday day consumer to create filters for a paid premium. When attending sporting events, concerts even a visit to the airport, it has now become the staple to check your snapchat to see if the location has a geofilter. I've seen the wedding and birthday host utilized this tool to share their big events.


Brands understand that to keep consumers engaged, especially millennials it is important to meet them where they are at and to create buzz and excitement. Making use of a feature that has already been popular is great use of resources.
