Chats? Via Snaps?

Chats? Via Snaps?

As technology has developed and become more prevalent in our society, mobile applications have transformed the way we communicate. One of the biggest developments within the past five years is Snapchat. Snapchat is simply a camera company. By using cameras, Snapchat believes that they can improve the way our society lives and communicates with one another. Their products empower people to express who they are while having fun together.

Because of the recent development of this application, there are many who still struggle to understand what this application is and how to use it best. As stated before, Snapchat is a camera company. A "snap" is sent to friends of the users to engage in conversation, but with a twist. Snapchat offers filters and voice changing options to enhance the individual photo. With a quick click of the main circle, your snap is off and waiting to be opened.

As different generations begin using the application, there is a difference in how it is used. Many people use Snapchat to inform their friends what they are up to. Whether that be running outside on a beautiful day or having your friend do something funny. The largest group that uses this application is 12-17 year olds, occupying 83% of the usage of this application. Their usage differs from those who are in Generation X, who are just beginning to understand and process what this application really is.

In the end, send a snap to chat. Whether your chat be about "streaks," (which is a whole new topic), or to have a funny conversation with your friends, they all work. Snapchat is now allowing us to interact with those that we are not currently with but wish we were. It is opening up a new world of communication that can be of great value to every person.
