1.     Predicting viewing habits – When Netflix first came out, they had a very difficult time using data to get to their subscribers and audience. Data analysts were only able to look at data through four data points. These data points were customer ID, movie ID, rating, and lastly the date that the movie was watched. Now, Netflix is able to look at your patterns of movie watching as well as when the movie was stopped. Netflix now has the capability of sending out notifications of movie you might like.

2.     Finding the next smash hit series – Netflix has begun creating Netflix original TV shows and movies that have caught the eyes of many people. Whether it is the side of politics like the show House of Cards or a sci-fi like Stranger Things. Netflix ranges from all sorts of different TV shows to please subscribers and keep them from moving away from Netflix to other competitors

3.     Quality of Experience – When it comes to going on a streaming website of application, the home screen and the way of the layout is one of the most important concepts. For Netflix, they focus heavily on the user experience and have TV shows and movies that will catch the eye of the subscriber. Data analysts collect end-user data on the location of the subscriber to know what TV shows and movies should be at the top of the list of what to watch.
