Fall is a time where the leaves change and so do food trends. This summer, Instagram was packed full of regular foods, such as ice cream, died purple using the Japanese root vegetable Ube. Carbs were also completely cut out of the picture as people because "ricing" cauliflower and using it to replace anything from pizza crusts to rice. The obsession with health foods didn't end there, avocados were included in every meal. As we say goodbye to the warmer months we also find ourselves leaving behind the aforementioned foods and welcoming a new batch of "in-style" foods.
This fall is all about redefining healthy. Carbs are back and in a big way. No longer will we be shamed for eating our favorite pastas or bread with our sandwiches. Ethnic foods such as Vietnamese Pho have also been photographed much more frequently as of recent. One trend that will continue from this summer is meatless options. Meat replacement recipes using jackfruit have been trending and this leads to many "Meatless Monday" posts on Instagram.
