People are talking about you on social media, the question is, are you there to respond? A brand's presence on social media is important and can say a lot about how a brand or company is perceived. For this blog post, I did a social media audit on both ballet companies.
Ballet West clearly has a larger social media presence and following. This was interesting seeing as they scored lower in overall company size, performance numbers and revenue. What they lack for in physical might, they make up for in digital presence. Perhaps, that is a key ingredient to their success. According to this Fortune article, "Facebook's 1.4 billion monthly active users around the world spend an average of, everyday, 365 days a year, on the network." Which, according to this Business Insider article, that accounts for nearly 20% of all time online.
So, yes – a strong social media presence is an important element to any brands success. Need further convincing? Consider reviews. Reviews on social media can be a hotbed of information that many people value. Kansas City Ballet was flooded with over 50 positive reviews on their page. Ballet west however, had no option available to leave a review. This is interesting because on approach allows for open input where the other operates as a highly-controlled platform. You can see this high intensity of control play out on Ballet West's Instagram page as well. They follow a very strict "set of 3" pattern on their feed. Each of their images compile together to form a grid.
Ballet west is rocking the social scene. Knowing whether or not their posts and engagement is converting to ticket sales or audiences sizes can only be answered with google analytics or Facebook manager tracking. However, we do learn that an intensely monitored and control social media presence can create a successful and beautiful social media page!
