There is no media like free earned media. The foodie movement plays directly into this. You can barely scroll through your Instagram feed without seeing three brunches, four latte art pictures with inspiring captions, and at least one mouth watering cupcake display. Chick-fil-a has found a large amount of success with riding the foodie wave. "Moxie vice president group creative director Erik Hostetler, who oversees Chick-fil-A's social strategy, said the mounting stream of food photography on Instagram has worked in the company's favor, as fans are hungry to see their favorite menu items."The foodie movement is huge, and we've capitalized on the idea that we have really good food and, 'Let's talk about that,'" Hostetler said." (Salo) While a food's taste is very important, the aesthetic appeal has become just as important. Other factors that could help your restaurant appeal to foodies are a good atmosphere, lighting, and a location on snapchat. While a few of these accommodations can become costly, the payoff could be huge. Foodies will go to restaurants for the food, but the appeal of a potential snapchat story or instagram can make your establishment impossible to pass up. 
Lets discuss snapchat, this can be hard to monitor at times, but snapchat has created new tools to improve both customers and your experiences. If you purchase a location option a customer can tag where they are with the simple white script. This lets their snapchat friends know where they are, and gives them the opportunity to click on the location to learn more about your location geographically and via Yelp. From the Yelp application potential customers can access your establishment's website. When monitoring your website via google analytics, you can monitor whether your website was accessed via Yelp or not. This could give you an idea of potential snapchat contributions to your restaurant. 
Using Hootsuite makes monitoring your restaurant's mentions and tags easier than ever. Whether your customers are turning to instagram or twitter, Hootsuite is a one place destination to see all activity surrounding your accounts and the foodies interacting with your social media accounts.
