This lasted three days feast has been accustomed by the New England colonists for celebrating "thanksgivings" which concerned as days of prayer to tanks God's blessings for the human. In 1789, the Thanksgiving has been celebrated from a harvest festival to nationally after the Congress requested the George Washington's proclamation. In today's the United States, Thanksgiving Day is a public holiday celebrated on the fourth Thursday of the November.
Thanksgiving is usually a four or five days weekend vacation for schools and colleges, while most business and government offices also have given their employees Thanksgiving vacation as paid holidays.
