More and more we are seeing a shift to genuine engagement within big brands and bloggers alike. Gone are the days of sitting silent at the keyboard, big brands have been addressing customer issues through social media for a couple years now but they are starting to show interest past the complaints. Social listening, a new form of engagement allows brands to collect data on their markets and build connections with their audience members. By commenting on posts as a large brand or a small blog you give your audience a sense of genuine connection and build brand loyalty.

By following brands and peers whose content aligned or competes with your brand not only are you able to monitor trends within your market but you also help spread your brand through these channels. This means if you follow a popular account and other accounts begin following these account your brand’s account will more than likely pop-up as a suggested follow for this user based of user data.
