How Data Can Help Content Creators Be More Purposeful: Who Do You Think You're Talking To?
Todays world is full of and fed by data. Content Creators, like ourselves, can use this data to make their content more purposeful. When fueled by proper and insightful data, your content can speak more directly and correctly to the audience. This leads us to this weeks topic.. who do you think you're talking to?
It's hard to be purposeful if you don't know what your purpose is. Step one in figuring out that purpose is knowing who your audience is. Not only can data trends help you narrow down who they are, but they can also lend you information such as what your audience stands for or what their interests are. This information will be able to help you properly position yourself in the consumer market. (127)
Let's dive in with an example. Say I'm an up and coming beauty blogger. It's one think to jump the gun and just start creating online content- but it's another to get that content noticed. You can use data to better understand who you need to be speaking to and where you can find and, in turn, target them. Maybe you find out what websites they visit, where they shop, or which brands they resonate with. All of this information will help you create more purposeful content, and purposeful content will help you bring more traffic to your site.
