Self-Nutrition Data – What does nutrition mean to you?

Researching food content such as calorie count, sodium, sugar, etc. is very common among most people. When picking out a food item from a store the calorie content seems to be the deciding factor, how much sugar is in the product might also come into play. When looking at these numbers though what do they truly mean? How much is too much? What should we really be looking for? Honestly, how do people know what they're deciding between? However, the results to these questions are different for each person depending on weight, height, or how active you may be throughout your day. So lets break it down.

 

To start, everyone's daily intake should include the following nutrients: protein, carbohydrates, fat, vitamin, minerals, fiber, and have course water. To maintain a healthy weight for males it is recommended that they consumer around 2,000-3,000 calories a day. This involves having at least 56 grams of protein, around 300 grams of carbohydrates, 56-97 grams of fat, 40 grams of fiber, and if they inquire healthy meals the vitamins and minerals that are needed should follow.

 

As for women, I'm sure you could have guessed that the numbers recommended are a bit lower than the males numbers. With their healthy diets still requiring the same seven nutrients of protein, carbohydrates, fat, vitamin, minerals, fiber and water women are urged to consume 1,600-2,000 calories a day. These calories should include 46 grams of protein, around 150 grams of carbs, 12-20 grams of fat and 25 grams of fiber.

 

Of course these numbers are an estimate based on gender but something that everyone should be more interested in looking into. When curious about these numbers it is something that is so easy to look into. If people are more invested in these numbers it will improve the number of healthy people we have around us. Looking at these numbers and realizing what is healthy for your body is a good thing to be informed about. Don't be too scared to purchase a food item because one of these numbers may be too high.
