Walking on Campus by Rachel Becker

While high school students are researching schools to go to they may want to try to picture themselves on campus.  They may want to see what the student body is like and find facts about the University.  This will help give them an insight on what going to that University would be like.

On the other side of operations, the University most likely wants to promote the different kind of students that attend.  Having students from all different backgrounds can attract so many more people to their school.  College's like to promote the diversity they have on campus because that means there is something at their school that people from all over want.

Diversity offers so much on college campuses.  Using UNL as an example, I know many of my friends come from smaller towns and they even consider Lincoln to be a bigger city.  They are experiencing so many new opportunities and meeting people they wouldn't have met in their town.

Because I was blogging about this topic, I thought it was necessary to look up some of the demographics of UNL.  I found all of the facts below on CollegeFactual, a site that compares Universities across the United States.

These are some of the statistics that stuck out to me:

·      We are below average in ethnic diversity, ranking 2,077 in the country

·      We are about equal in male to female ratio

·      About 77% of the undergraduate students are from in-state

·      44 states are represented by out-of-state students

And according to Google Trends, in the past few years we have been growing as a University and becoming more known over the country!  From 2012 to present day we have had interest increase 10%.
