What’s up with movies this weekend?

This past weekend, September 29, there were a few movies that came out in theaters. On Thursday, September 28, Steve McQueen: American Icon was released. On Friday, September 29, there were 17 more movies released across the country. A lot of these movies are "limited" in terms of area or time in theaters, so I will go over the two biggest movies that were release: American Made, a true story with Tom Cruise, Domhnall Gleeson and Sarah Wright about a pilot working for the CIA. The other big movie that was released nationwide was Flatliners with Ellen Page, Diego Luna and Nina Dobrev. Flatliners is a drama about a group of students who have near-death experiences to see what happens after you die.

The first movie I looked at was "Steve McQueen: American Icon." The number of search results according to semrush.com was 1.3 billion. The CPC was $1.75. Some related searches were "tom cruise movie," which I appreciated because to be honest, I'm terrible with movie names. I can come up with the actors or plot, but for me to get a movie name correct is a miracle even though I love movies so much.

There were a total of 8.9 million searches for the term "Flatliners." The CPC on Flatliners was $0.20. Something that I found interesting when looking up analytics about searches for the movie was the third highest searched related word was "flatiners." The people who searched this just missed the "l" in the word. If they had spelled "Flatliners" correctly, the search results would have been fairly different, as the actual term would have ended with a higher search rate. I have yet to see this movie but from the search results, it seems that many people were interested just as I am! I'm hoping to see it soon.

I used these two movies to see how people have reacted to them on the Internet and what they have searched for relating to the movies. This makes me want to go deeper and see why they're searching what they're searching – is it because they want a movie time or is it because they want to know what it's about? Is it because they forgot who played the lead role or are they looking up a scene? I'm excited to dive into this blog and keep sharing my findings on movies!

Have you seen any of the movies that have recently come out? What did you think of them?
