You spelled it wrong…Again.

By: Allie Havers

I can understand that there are a lot of different ways to spell Allie.  There's Allie, Aly, Ali, and probably ten more ways that I am missing.  However, when you are someone that goes into Starbucks everyday (not proud of it,) and has the same cashier every other day, you'd think they'd get it right…right? Wrong.  Aly.  That's how it is spelled every time I go there.  Never fails.  The cashier asked me one day how to spell it and I told him, "Allie."  He got side tracked helping make my drink and wrote, "Aly" on my cup.  I laughed to myself and happily took my Strawberry Acai.  If you have yet to try this sweetish tea, I highly recommend it!

I wonder how many other people have this same problem and get their name spelled wrong?  Has anyone else also ever looked up this funny issue?  Surprisingly, yes!  Google trends showed that there are quite a lot of people in the United States that find this to be an interesting topic as well.  While looking at the image, it seems as if there is less of a problem in the months of March-October, rather than November-February.  Why is this?  Is Starbucks more popular doing those months, or are there just harder names to spell? J

I am curious to know if your name is one that Starbucks has also struggled with.  Have a funny moment to share?  I'd love to read about it!  And don't worry, not every coffee shop struggles with names!

  1. One of my friends grew up in Bosnia and has a very challenging name to spell. So, she has a "Starbucks name" she uses: Heather. I think she'd feel your pain! ;)
